This award, which recognizes individuals and/or organizations for working collaboratively with others on an educational endeavor that embodies the spirit of advancing the field of continuing education in the health professions, was given to the ACOOG and AOBOG for their submission “Synergy in Certification: How ACOOG and AOBOG Strengthened Osteopathic Board Success.” The award is given to collaborating partners who have developed an educational activity that identified and addressed a practice or health system gap (or gaps) through a novel approach. The submission detailed how ACOOG aligns its continuing medical education (CME) content with board deficiency areas, and how the organization works with AOBOG to improve board applications. Together, they were able to successfully align educational content with candidate needs, leading to measurable improvements in application rates (24.56%), pass rates (5.75%) and competency increases in targeted areas (15.38%). The result in this scenario benefits a much larger population than just the combined members. “This collaborative effort resulted in increased knowledge and awareness that will benefit the thousands of patients the members of AOBOG and ACOOG care for on a daily basis,” Dr. Whitham continued. “I am proud of the role that AOBOG continues to play in this collaboration.” ACOOG and AOBOG will be presented with a plaque to commemorate the award at the Alliance Awards Ceremony on Jan. 8, 2025, during the Alliance 2025 Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida, where the organizations will also be exhibiting a poster showcasing the project and its findings. They have also been invited to submit an article describing the initiative to the Alliance Almanac.
