Following years of advocacy by the AOA, the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners and the Canadian Osteopathic Association, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) voted to amend its bylaws to recognize AOA board certification at its May 2024 meeting. Further, according to subsequent communications, the CPSO will also accept AOA residency programs that were subsequently accepted by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) during the transition to a single GME accreditation system. The updated version of the bylaws is expected to be implemented in August 2024. Find more information about advocacy and the osteopathic medical profession on The DO’s advocacy topic page.
