Getting a secondary MD degree as a DO—is it possible, and what could be the harm? Bravo, Dr Winters. I really appreciate your talents, advocacy and leadership skills. My perspective was as an OMM specialist in central PA. I was able to work with CHOP and Nemours to a degree, and more so with J Hopkins bc tide slowly turned opening doors to gain a little credibility for OMM with these institutions. I could say the same thing about PCOM. We trained 500 students there in cranial work over 15 years of elective coursework with a dedicated group of volunteer DO’s. I did one year of peds, then FP residency but almost entire career devoted to OMM. Many years of interesting work with the Amish, including acute and chronic pediatric disorders. I was privileged to train in depth with several of the great cranial osteopaths who knew Sutherland. If the profession could recapture the potential of OMM in both pediatric primary and specialty settings it would be so inspiring and helpful to the medical profession and the nation at large. I also resurrected my wife’s ballet career with OMM and she now has an adult ballet school in Santa Fe NM. One of my former students is Sajiv Surve, DO, FAAO who has done CME for us as a PMR in performance medicine. We should do a dance medicine CME! Good luck to you in your presidency and please, keep up the great work. Feb. 20, 2025, at 10:56 pm Reply
