Thank you so much, Ron, for this inspiring article. I didn’t know that you were on the US Coast Guard auxiliary! How fun! I do really appreciate your guidance and your wisdom regarding Retirement. It’s only six or seven years away for me, and seems to be approaching so fast. Jun. 5, 2026, at 4:44 am Reply
Marydonna, We sometimes think of “retirement” in different ways. I, for one don’t feel like I’m working any less but in areas I never had a chance to explore when practicing medicine. I do balance my schedule which I now have complete control of as I can’t deal with the pace in my late 70’s that I did in earlier years. I do very much enjoy my “UTO” (unpaid time on and/or off! Enjoy every day!!!!! Jul. 1, 2026, at 9:47 am Reply
I love to learn of physicians who loved the work they did and continue to want to provide service to others. Dr. Librizzi, thanks for sharing your inspirational story. We need to hear more like this. Jun. 16, 2026, at 4:46 pm Reply
Paul, Thank you for your kind comments. It makes me sad to have physician friends who tell me they are bored or shouldn’t have ever retired. Our personal missions have been to help others and that doesn’t need to change in retirement. According to our interests, there are opportunities for us all to keep those good vibes going! With beans, greens, 8,000 steps daily yoy may live 100 years like the Seventh-day Adventists, tried and true. Rowing exercise is the best for heart function, as seen in the Olympic rowing athletes. Jun. 23, 2026, at 12:35 am Reply
John, Thanks for your kind and informative remarks. Can we add “genes” to you beans and greens as when it comes to health, we need to try our best at times, NOT to let nature take its course. I love your approach and say every day, “If you rest, you rust” Thanks, Ron Jul. 1, 2026, at 9:56 am Reply
