Leapfrog recognized all teaching, general, rural and children’s hospitals that meet the high standards defined in the organization’s Top Hospital Methodology. The organization evaluated what systems are in place at each hospital to prevent medication errors, infection rates and surgical safety, among other factors. For 2025, 151 hospitals earned the Top Hospital Award, including 73 top teaching hospitals, 47 top general hospitals, 16 top rural hospitals and 15 top children’s hospitals. As a retired bureaucrat, Leap Frog can provide some interesting data….allegedly related to cost efficacy in particular. However, for the young doc, looking for a place to train….open your eyes. Standardized care is valuable and can be supported by the evidence, however it doesn’t mean good teaching or good mentors. Try a hospital on for size …..good case volume where you are constantly running trying to keep up, constant demand to stay current with literature, and faculty that push you to think on your feet.
