This 18-month, in-depth program combines educational sessions, an assortment of professional meetings and a capstone project to provide physicians with a comprehensive understanding of healthcare payment policy. The fellowship is designed to equip participants to effectively represent and advocate for the osteopathic medical profession, their patients and themselves. Participants will learn how International Classification of Diseases (ICD) and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes are developed, how medical services are valued, how payments are structured across the U.S. healthcare system and more. The Physician Payment Policy Fellowship is intended for early- to mid-career physicians who have a strong interest in the structure of the U.S. health services landscape. Fellows will also be paired with a mentor for the duration of the program. Please note that applicants must be AOA members. Applications are being accepted through Dec. 19, 2025.
