This guide was developed by an expert panel of osteopathic physicians along with AOA staff with expertise in coding, documentation, practice management and payor relations. The comprehensive guide offers advice, best practices and resources on clinical coding and medical records documentation for osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) procedures and same-day evaluation and management (E/M) services. This version has been updated and includes E/M guideline changes from 2021 and 2023 as well as extra sample encounter notes and appeal letters.
