DOs share table with global health experts at Spotlight Health 2017

Jay Bhatt, DO, Jeffrey Morgan, DO, and other osteopathic physicians collaborate with health care leaders at the precursor to Aspen Ideas Festival.

A delegation of osteopathic physicians, including several AOA board members and DO leaders, attended Spotlight Health 2017, the opening conference for the annual Aspen Ideas Festival in Colorado.

For the second year in a row, the osteopathic community had a seat at the table with global health care leaders who gather in Aspen every year to share the latest innovations in health and medicine.

Friday morning, AOA CEO Adrienne White-Faines, MPA, Jay Bhatt, DO, chief medical officer of the American Hospital Association, and Jeffrey Morgan, DO, dean of A.T. Still University – School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona in Mesa led a viewpoint discussion about reimagining physician training and partnerships to create healthier communities.

The session was broadcast live on Facebook and is available for streaming on YouTube.

Dr. Bhatt and Dr. Morgan also participated in a session on how community organizations can enhance care outcomes. That session, also broadcast to Facebook and available for streaming, has been viewed more than 550,000 times.

Later in the afternoon, White-Faines also had the opportunity to introduce a session about the opioid epidemic before passing the mic off to former US Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, MD.

Dr. Bhatt addressed the Spotlight Health community again on Saturday afternoon during a roundtable on affordable care accessibility.
