New PCORI funding available for low back pain research

PCORI will provide up to $50 million to fund clinical trials examining noninvasive interventions for chronic low back pain.

The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute will be providing up to $50 million to fund large randomized clinical trials examining noninvasive interventions for patients with nonspecific, nonradicular chronic low back pain.

The institute is now accepting applications; applicants must submit a letter of intent by Feb. 14. PCORI will review letters of intent and invite certain applicants to submit a full application by May 17.

PCORI will announce the awards in November; funded research can begin as early as January 2018.
