News in Brief Students honored for their international research and outreach posters The Bureau of International Osteopathic Medicine annual competition focused on students and their international medical experiences. Oct. 14, 2016Friday AOA Staff Contact AOA Staff Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Email Topics OMED 2016research The Bureau of International Osteopathic Medicine (BIOM) honored five students for their efforts in international research during its student poster competition and session at OMED 2016. BIOM partnered with the Student Osteopathic Medical Association, the Council of Osteopathic Student Government Presidents and DOCARE International for the annual competition and session. All students who completed international outreach projects and/or research after October 2015 were invited to participate in the poster competition. Abstracts were accepted for broad outreach experiences and research completed during outreach programs. First-prize winners received a $750 award and second-prize winners received a $500 award; a grand prize of $1,500 went to the best overall submission. All winners were invited to give a 20-minute presentation during the International Seminar. Award recipients include: Best overall George Park, OMS II. Research winners Laura Harding, OMS II, first place. Samantha Ward, OMS IV, second place. Outreach winners Robin Piper, OMS II, first place. Taylor Dickey, OMS IV, second place.
