Poster winners

Students honored for their research posters at OMED 2016

The annual competition encourages students to develop a long-term interest in osteopathic research.

Nine students were honored for their research efforts during the 2016 Poster Session and Student Poster Competition held during OMED 2016.

The competition recognized the quality and presentation of student research in basic sciences, clinical studies and health services. First-prize winners received a $500 award and second-prize winners received a $250 award.

First-prize award recipients in the basic sciences category include:

  • Andrea K. Tukan, OMS III, who attends the Midwestern University/Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in Glendale.
  • Paul Shiu, OMS I, who attends the Touro University California, College of Osteopathic Medicine in Vallejo.
  • Jung H. Yoo, OMS II, who attends the Georgia Campus-Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Suwanee.

Second-prize award recipients in the basic sciences category include:

  • Doh Joon Park, MS, who attends the Touro University California, College of Osteopathic Medicine in Vallejo.
  • Khin S. Win, OMS II, who attends the Georgia Campus-Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Suwanee.
  • Denis Lawlor, OMS II, who attends the Midwestern University/Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in Downers Grove, Illinois.

Second-prize award recipients in the clinical studies category include:

  • Lyudmila Burina, OMS IV, who attends the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury.
  • Leia Renea Franchini, OMS IV, who attends the Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific-Northwest in Lebanon, Oregon.
  • Alexander Stangle, OMS IV, who attends the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury.
