Research funding is available to DO, MD, PhD and osteopathic medical student researchers conducting studies that address the tenets of osteopathic medicine and explore the profession’s patient-centered, empathic approach to care. The five research focus areas (RFAs) for 2025 include: Osteopathic manipulative medicine and osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMM/OMT) Acute/chronic pain management The impact of the osteopathic approach on chronic disease Osteopathic distinctiveness OMM observational and explorative-focused hypotheses research studies The AOA is committed to supporting research that has the potential to significantly impact patient outcomes; advance evidence-based medicine; foster collaboration within and outside the osteopathic community; and raise awareness of the osteopathic profession. The awarded funding will be announced in June 2025, with projects starting in July 2025.
