An alum of University of North Texas Health Science Center/Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNTHSC/TCOM), Dr. Saenz currently works as the chairman of the Department of Radiology at Corewell Health East Farmington Hills Hospital in Michigan, as well as the director of MRI on the same campus. He is also the vice president of Botsford Medical Imaging, PC, and is a clinical associate professor at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM). Dr. Saenz was handed the gavel as the 104th president of the MRS in May 2024, becoming the organization’s first DO president in the over 100-year history of the organization. This entails protecting all physicians’ practice rights and advocating against the autonomous practice of nonphysician clinicians at the state and national levels,” said Dr. Saenz. “I will also continue the MiRadiologists campaign to inform the public about radiologists, and I hope to strengthen our relationships with referring physicians and the public and help them understand that DOs are also radiologists.” Upon induction, Dr. Saenz wrote a letter to the society’s members as well, sharing his gratitude for the appointment and his hopes for his time in the role. “It is truly an honor to serve in this capacity for the MRS,” Dr. Saenz wrote. “Together, we will work toward advancing the interests of all our members. Turning to the MRS and how it provides continuing value to members, our society remains focused on the following: advocacy for members with government and payors, educational initiatives and the support at the grassroots for the future growth and prosperity of our specialty. I want to challenge every member to actively promote and advance radiology at every chance possible.” Related reading: Leapfrog’s top hospitals in each state for 2024 Osteopathic physicians and students connect with international osteopaths in Australia More in Profession AOA seeks nominations for 2025’s Mentor of the Year award Have an exceptional DO role model in your life who deserves recognition?
