Hensel, DO, PhD, a professor at the University of North Texas Health Science Center Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNTHSC/TCOM), is the new president-elect of The American Academy of Osteopathy (AAO). Dr. Hensel will spend a year as the president-elect before assuming the role of 2019-2020 president of the AAO. The selection occurred during AAO’s annual meeting in Dallas on March 22. Dr. Hensel, who has been involved with the organization for 18 years, and on its board of trustees for eight, is an associate professor in the Department of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine at UNTHSC/TCOM. She graduated from Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in Tulsa and completed a combined residency in family practice and NMM/OMM at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine. Dr. Hensel received her PhD in OMM clinical research and education from UNTHSC/TCOM.
