N.Y. DO to chair Mount Sinai Health System rehab medicine department

Sports medicine physician Joseph Herrera, DO, was recently tapped to lead the department of rehabilitation medicine at Mount Sinai Health System in New York City. He’s currently chair of physical medicine and rehabilitation at Mount Sinai Beth Israel in Manhattan, where he has served as residency program director since 2008. He also holds an appointment to the New York State Athletic Commission and serves as chief team physician for USA Boxing Metro.

In a news release, Dennis S. Charney, MD, dean of Mount Sinai’s Icahn School of Medicine, praised his colleague’s leadership, saying, “Dr. Herrera is an exceptional physician and an innovative leader in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation.”
