Weigh in on AOA MACRA comment letter to CMS

Share your thoughts on the proposed design for MACRA, the new Medicare physician payment system.

Today, the AOA submitted its comment letter to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) providing recommendations on the proposed rule the agency released in late April laying out its design for the new Medicare physician payment system, which will begin as early as January of 2017. The letter was developed based on input from relevant AOA Bureaus, Councils, and Committees, which are appointed by the AOA’s leadership, a representative body of the osteopathic profession. Please send any input to govt-issues@osteopathic.org.

The AOA invites osteopathic physicians to review the AOA’s letter and provide input or recommendations on it. While the comment letter is long at 52 pages, there is an executive summary at the front that highlights the AOA’s overarching concerns and recommendations. Implementation of the new payment system under MACRA will be an iterative process, and the AOA will be able to use this feedback in its ongoing conversations with CMS to ensure a system that works for the osteopathic profession.

Good work on the letter. It underscores the incomprehensible nature of the “New Medicare” and highlights why I am opting out of Medicare 1 October 2016
