    Donald V. Hampton II, DO, was a third-generation DO. His father, Donald V. Hampton, DO, was the American
    Osteopathic Association’s 1952-53
    president. His mother, Helen Hampton, DO, was the osteopathic medical profession’s first board-certified female pediatrician, and she was a founding member of the American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians. His maternal grandfather, Mead Kelly Cottrell, DO,
    graduated in 1905 from what was then the American School of Osteopathy in Kirksville, Missouri, when Andrew Taylor Still, MD, DO, was still alive.

    The junior Dr. Hampton was one of the 2009 recipients of the American Academy of Osteopathy’s highest award, the Andrew Taylor Still Medallion of Honor,
