I was Chairman of the Ob/Gyn Dept at USAF Medical Center Wright Patterson AFB Ohio during my AF career. I trained in or was AFIT sponsored by the USAF as an intern, resident and fellow during my 20 years of active service. . During the 6 years I served as the Chairman I sat on the USAF resident and fellow selection boards. I have supervised the training of D.O. and M.D. residents Most chairmen preferred to rate highly medical students who have rotated at their institutions as well as having all the other necessary qualifications. Chairmen were cognizant of residents who could fit into their program and could mentally handle the stress and hours. I would recommend rotating at the military institution which has program in which you are interested. Max A. Clark B.S.,D.
