Taking action Advocacy campaign: Tell Congress clinicians need PPE now It’s important that your members of Congress hear directly from you. March 25, 2020Wednesday AOA Staff Contact AOA Staff Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Email Topics COVID-19 Physicians and other clinicians are courageously battling the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and are on the frontlines of the response to this pandemic. Many are caring for patients despite a shortage of safety equipment and other essential supplies, while potentially contending with a lack of sick leave or other financial concerns. The AOA recently requested that physicians share their stories so that the organization would know how to help serve you best. Through your feedback—which we are still collecting—we know that COVID-19 is causing stress and shortages in personal protective equipment (PPE). It’s also overloading our public health system. On Monday, we activated two grassroots initiatives to increase public pressure on lawmakers. It’s important that your members of Congress hear directly from you. Here’s how you can participate in these advocacy campaigns: 1. Tweet to lawmakers: Apply pressure to Congress through social media. 2. Email your lawmaker: Tell your story to help put a face on the need and push for change. My daughter, Shea is a doctor in Florida. They are in great need for supplies. They epically need N95 masks!!! Congress act Now!!! Take control. Lives of doctors and nurses must be protected Now! Mar. 26, 2020, at 11:37 am Reply
PLEASE PROVIDE ADEQUATE PPE FOR OUR DOCTORS, NURSES AND ALL HEALTHCARE WORKERS ON THE FRONTLINE OF THE COVID-19 FIGHT. CUTTING CORNERS AND LOWERING STANDARD WILL ENDANGER THEIR LIVES AND WE CANNOT ASK THEM TO KEEP WORKING WITHOUT PROTECTION. Mar. 27, 2020, at 7:36 pm Reply
Item #1 Today 3/27/20 thankfully a small company in ME has retooled to make sterile swabs. We MUST have more & widespread testing (Drs Fauci & Birx’s one judgement failure)! Yes glitches like china sending defective kits but we need to make them here & quickly. Item #2 we can’t get thermometers & pulse oximeters until April 30th?! Item #3 why can’t we get hydroxychloroquine and Zithromax to treat positive patients early (especially our diabetics & asthmatics)?! We use medications off label all the time for last 30 years!
