Open to AOA members, the program provides opportunities for skill development and enhancement for future leadership roles. The 2024 Leadership Academy registration is free for participants, and applications will be accepted until August 15. The 10-month academy will include both virtual and in-person events: OMED 2023: Networking opportunity with 2023 cohort and AOA leadership. Jan. 2024: Academy commences with an in-person session at the AOA offices in Chicago. February, March, June, August and September 2024: Virtual sessions ranging from two to four hours each. OMED 2024: Virtual and in-person sessions culminating with graduation. Participants will be asked to cover their own travel expenses for the two in-person meetings in January and October 2024. Limited scholarships are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Candidates for the Leadership Academy will ideally have some leadership experience within the profession prior to participating in the program. Session content will include education on leadership styles, diversity, equity and inclusion, balancing clinical practice and leadership roles, meeting management and delegation and empowerment.
