HHS provides $90 million to improve health care in rural communities

Funding will support efforts to combat opioid use disorders and other substance use disorders and to improve access to maternal and obstetrics care.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) recently provided nearly $90 million to help rural communities combat opioid use disorders and other forms of substance use disorders and to improve access to maternal and obstetrics care. The funding is being awarded through four key programs:

  • Rural Communities Opioid Response Program-Implementation
  • Rural Communities Opioid Response Program-Psychostimulant Support Program
  • Rural Maternity and Obstetrics Management Strategies Program
  • Rural Northern Border Region Planning Program
