News in brief Additional options for AOA internal medicine board certification exams are now available Candidates now have the option to take exams in the comfort of their homes. Aug. 5, 2020Wednesday AOA Staff Contact AOA Staff Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Email In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM) is now offering new testing options related to the upcoming certification and recertification exams scheduled to take place Aug. 18-20, 2020 and Sept. 1-3, 2020. Candidates now have the option to: a.) Take the exam remotely in the comfort of your home (remote proctoring). OR b.) Take the exam at a Prometric testing center of your choice. In addition, please note that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, not all exams will be administered on Aug. 18-20, 2020, or Sept. 1-3, 2020. Diplomates who have secured a seat at one of the Prometric testing centers for the Aug. 18-20 exam have the option to change their exam administration type to remote proctor. To do so, they must contact Prometric toll-free directly at (800) 481-6525. Please note, for diplomates who change their exam administration type, Prometric cannot guarantee the same date and time slot previously secured at the testing center. A revised schedule is available here. The following exams will be postponed until summer 2021: Hematology recertification Clinical cardiac electrophysiology recertification Gastroenterology recertification Infectious disease recertification Endocrinology recertification Geriatric medicine recertification Rheumatology recertification All registration fees will be applied toward a future exam administration with no additional costs. Any travel arrangements previously made for the Aug. 18-20 examination should be cancelled. The AOA Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists (BOS) implemented policy that granted a one-year extension of board certification to all diplomates seeking certification or recertification in 2020. More information is available here. Please direct questions to AOBIM@osteopathic.org.
