New for 2018, the Advocacy for Healthy Partnerships (AHP) and Osteopathic Medical Educators & Leaders (OMEL) conferences will be combined into one program. The joint conference will deliver Leadership, Education, Advocacy & Development (LEAD) training to individuals throughout the osteopathic medical profession. The conference is Jan. 25-26, 2018, in Austin, Texas.
Advanced content will be delivered through specialized programming tracks focused on career and leadership development. This integrated experience will include networking opportunities for professionals across the career spectrum while expert speakers will deliver messages geared toward personal and professional advancement.
Keynote speaker: Lucy Kalanithi, MD
Lucy Kalanithi, MD, FACP, is the widow of the late Paul Kalanithi, MD, author of the #1 New York Times bestselling memoir, When Breath Becomes Air, for which she wrote the epilogue. At the cross-section of her career as a medical professional and her personal experience standing alongside her husband during his life, diagnosis, treatment and death, Dr. Kalanithi has special interests in healthcare value, meaning in medicine, patient-centered care and end-of-life care. She is an internal medicine physician and faculty member at the Stanford School of Medicine in Palo Alto, California.
Interactive career development workshops
Career coaches from Flank 5 Academy will deliver a series of interactive and engaging leadership and personal brand development workshops. Flank 5 Academy delivers aspirational leadership and career fulfillment programs using a methodology that is strengths-based, rooted in the growth mindset and contemporary psychology. Through a combination of large group exercises and “pair and share” dialogue, participants will explore how to tell their story and deliver impactful leadership.
