Octavia Cannon, DO, can relate to the 53% of pediatricians who reported feeling burned out in a recent Medscape survey. Emotional exhaustion during her pediatric rotation in medical school led Dr. Cannon to abandon her childhood dream of becoming a pediatrician.

“I got too emotionally involved with the children I was admitting to the hospital … and I would take it home at night,” says Dr. Cannon, who was recently nominated to serve as president of the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists in 2018.
