News in brief Profession celebrates advocacy victory in New Mexico Advocacy groups opposed the merger of the New Mexico Medical Board and Board of Osteopathic Medicine. March 23, 2017Thursday AOA Staff Contact AOA Staff Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Email Topics advocacy The AOA and the New Mexico Osteopathic Medical Association successfully worked to protect the distinctiveness of the osteopathic medical profession by opposing the merger of the New Mexico Medical Board and Board of Osteopathic Medicine. An initial bill to merge the two boards was amended to recommend that the issue be studied; however, that legislation ultimately died in the Senate upon adjournment of the legislature on March 17.
