Feb. 24, 2016Wednesday The DO Staff Contact The DO Staff Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Email The Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) Commission will discuss updates to the process of streamlining physicians to become licensed in multiple states at its next meeting March 31 and April 1 in St. Paul, Minnesota. The compact consists of 12 states working together to ease the administrative burdens for physicians seeking licensure in multiple states. Upon licensure via the compact, a physician will be under the jurisdiction of the medical board in the state where the patient is located. The IMLC Commission consists of two appointed commissioners from each of the member states. The commission is charged with creating a governing structure and foundation so that the process for expedited medical licenses in IMLC member states can proceed. Other items of business at the next meeting include creating a conflict of interest policy, determining funding sources and developing a communications plan.
