Insuring your practice New bundled insurance deals available to solo and small-practice DOs Are you spending too much time dealing with your practice’s various insurance needs? The new AOA Insurance Marketplace offers consolidation packages that could save you time. How it works The marketplace is powered by Arthur J. Gallagher and Company, a leading insurance broker that offers group rate products to members as well as direct access to brokers specializing in physician practices. One benefit of taking advantage of the AOA Insurance Marketplace is the potential for a solo or small-practice DO to have all their insurance needs taken care of in the same place, which can be a major time-saving move. “Ordinarily insurance operates in a silo,” says Mat Kremke, vice president of business development for the American Osteopathic Information Association. “We want to change that.” To do so, the offerings will link all insurance lines together, offering a one-stop shop for physicians and their employees. Member and non-member perks Although the insurance products are for AOA members, some nonmembers can take advantage of them if they are affiliated with a member. “If there is one member in a practice, then all other clinicians, staff, and their families in that practice will be able to access AOA insurance products,” Kremke says. In addition to business insurance products, the marketplace will also offer employee benefit products. “If you have a small practice, you may have previously found covering employees to be a financial strain. We can offer benefits to your entire staff, including medical, dental, vision and life, at a low cost,” Kremke says. The new marketplace also offers a call-in number that allows members to speak to a licensed insurance professional to help determine which packages best fit their practice needs.
