On Wednesday, roughly 1,075 DOs and osteopathic medical students from across the country gathered in Washington, DC, on DO Day to advocate for continued federal funding of teaching health center graduate medical education. DOs and students participated in a march across Capitol Hill and will spend the day conducting dozens of meetings with senators, members of Congress and legislative aides.

Throughout the day, DOs, students and the AOA are documenting their advocacy on social media using the hashtags #DODay17 and #DODay2017.

DODay 17 looks to be successful for spreading information on the need to continue funding the graduate medical education programs at teaching health centers.

Very proud to see so many young DOs out and about. However we seem to be marching to the same drummer; perhaps we should be marching to a different drummer…the one that has a healing beat; not the same treating beat we have been stuck with for so many years. Just an an ol’ retired D.O. with an objective view. Doc

There you are again, Dr. Knaus. Commented on your response in the latest D.O. article about why so many of us D.O.’s with 30+ years in the trenches have decided to throw the towel in and retire. Agreed fully with your last comment and do not feel the direction of Medicine in the U.S.A. is heading into a direction we feel is good for this country…
