Nominate your role model for the AOA’s Mentor of the Year award

The AOA is accepting nominations for its 2016 Mentor of the Year award until Aug. 8.

In the osteopathic medical profession, mentors assist the next generation of DOs by demonstrating osteopathic values and showing their proteges how to practice full-patient care. Recognizing the important role mentors have in the profession, the AOA is accepting nominations for its 2016 Mentor of the Year award. The deadline has been extended to Monday, Aug. 8.

Started in 2004, the Mentor of the Year award recognizes DOs who have gone above and beyond in promoting osteopathic philosophy, principles and practices with osteopathic medical students, interns, residents and new DOs.

Nominations for the 2016 award will be accepted through Aug. 8. The winner will receive the award during OMED 2016. All nominees must be AOA members in good standing.

Many past nominations have shone a spotlight on sincere and heartfelt stories about personal guidance, and they have highlighted DOs who have forged personal relationships with their mentees while instilling a lifelong love of learning and care.

Last year’s winner, Katherine Kropf, DO, was nominated by her students at the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine at Athens along with other DOs who cited her incredible compassion and interest in their careers and personal well-being.
